TRANSITIONS WITH S-BLURMOCURVES

• i usually set my keyframes to 'fast fade' or 'slow fade'
• eg: for a zoom in, i go into it on a slow fade and put the next clip on a fast one.
• look through your frames one by one to see if it moves smoothly

RENDER SETTINGS:

• i use the template 'Internet HD 1080p 29.97 fps' under MAGIX AVC/AAC MP4
• you can customize the template to render at a different size/frame rate
• my edits are usually 1600x1080 or 1500x1080

DISABLE RESAMPLE:

• it's important to disable resample on all of your clips! otherwise sony vegas will make your clips have 'ghosting' (where your clip trails behind slightly where there's movement)
• right click on your clip, go to switches & then click disable resample
• if you don't want to do each clip individually, hit the 'D' key twice on your keyboard or click the 'selection edit tool', you can then highlight all of your clips and disable resample on them all at once.

PREVIEW:

• if your preview playback is laggy, use 'shift + B' on your keyboard to pre-render. it may take a while depending on your laptop speed but it will make your preview smoother.
• i have my preview window set to 'preview (quarter)'

EDITING AUDIOS:

• i like to change the pitch of most of my audios, use 'pitch/shift' under audio event fx
• i usually change it to -2 or -3 but it depends on what sounds right for the song.
• use 'smooth/enhance' or 'resonant filter' to muffle the intro or outro
• add sound effects!

some commonly used sound effects:
'20 sound effects for edits'
'popular whoosh sound effects for edits'

TWIXTOR TIPS:

remember to disable resample!

for smooth twixtor, the key is to pay attention to your project & clip frame rates. if the two don't match up, your twixtor will be choppy with dead frames in between.

svp 15+
• right click on your clip & go to properties, then select 'conform to project frame rate'
• this changes your frame rate to match your project. (eg you're editing in 29fps but your episode is 25fps)

svp 14 & under:
• right click on your clip & go to properties, then read what fps your clip is. it should say on the bottom right.
• go to 'project video properties' and make sure your project fps matches with your clips.

still choppy? you may have to cut out the dead frames yourself. if your clip stops on some frames, delete those, render the clip & apply twixtor again.

MAGIC BULLET LOOKS:

• sometimes magic bullet will crash upon opening, i found keeping my preview set to 'preview (quarter)' can solve this issue
• your colorings won't always fit every clip, so it's good to adjust the exposure if they're too bright/dark etc
• 'spot exposure' is really useful if one part of your clip is darker/lighter than the rest
• make sure to turn off any brightness/filter adjustments on your computer as the clips may look different on the end result!

here's a tutorial on how to install magic bullet colorings if you ever see editors giving them away:
